I have a story for you. SFC Doug Perry came into our Patrol Base while I was a Ranger Student and gave us the in-walkers Safety Briefing. After he was finished with that, he then reached into his rucksack and pulled out a huge paper bag of Chocolate Candy Bars. He gave each one of us a Candy Bar and then he told us..."Remember Rangers, when you fill out your end of course critiques, my name is Perry. Spelled P-E-R-R-Y" I heard that he recieved Instructor of the Year! All of this is a lie of course, but I do have to be honest....he did grade me as a Ranger Student on the old 31 FTX. I was the PL for actions on the objective, and he was my RI Evaluator. I got a "Go" believe it or not....and no, I didn't get a Candy Bar, but it was fun telling the "fib" up front, just to get everyone's attention! Take care Rangers, and GREAT JOB Doug! You've earned it!!! Joe |

Many of you know me, some do not. I am a staff writer for The Dahlonega Nugget who has covered Camp Merrill and the Association for several years, and the other half of Ross Hall. I will be down at Benning to cover Doug Perry's induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame for his hometown paper. I'd like to request that any of your who want to do so email me with your personal stories about Doug - tell me about what he's done for the Rangers or for you and yours, something he did that inspired you, even your funny stories - as long as they won't embarrass him TOO much! I will be working on the article starting right after the induction and have a deadline of Saturday, June 14 to get all the material in.
Thanks so much for your help. Personal comments from people who know Doug will really help make this article one he and his family will treasure.

Congrats Doug - thanks for all you do! I'm sure those who can't make it would love a picture or two, so I hope you will consider posting a few! ~C |

I would like to add my congratulations to Doug for his years of outstanding, loyal and truely professional service. Recognizing Doug with his induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame this week is a fitting tribute for such an outstanding role model. Thanks will never be enough for all you have done for the Camp and our Creed... we will all be with you on the field in spirit. God Bless and keep you and yours...you are most deserving of this special place in our story books.
