He is a great Ranger leader that truly understands the concept of selfless service to his nation. Congratulations to him and all those who have been a part of his journey to the top. |

Posted: 04/27/2013 Name: Mark Jordan Message: ...USMRA April 2013 Mtng... ...Steve Hawk, President, begins by covering the Easter Egg Hunt at Porter Village on March 10...we really need some more help next year and great thanks to Chris Fuller for being so responsive in getting the grills to work... ...JD Kirby reports that considerable activity has gone on for the approval of the monument here at CFM...two questions asked have both been answered by the Forest Service; approval of the site and permission to go forward and...that we have a lease that must be renewed every few years (the next is 2014), for the Camp to remain here...each is satisfactory for moving ahead, hopefully within LTC O'Brien's tenure as Camp CO, who has been very supportive of these efforts... ...some more talk about the leasing, how long they will be renewing this next one and a new headquarters building planned for being built across the road from the current location... ...Critter CookOut talk begins with Steve, Ted Tilson and Steve Bishop answering questions, making announcements...Chris Fuller fills in Camp details...so far, all is good with Open House cancelled but our day of Fallen Rangers, Scholarships, Planning Bay Signs, CCO and May meeting are as usual...just less 'others'... ...except!...at 1400 the Camp is having Family Day beginning while we're cooking and probably will be hungry at about the time we're ready to eat...1600 is for Fallen Ranger and 1700 is when the Corbitt Brothers are scheduled to play... ...the cups we'll have this year are too ugly to duplicate, embarrassingly ugly, and instead of selling them for $19.99 to every civilian not allowed in, $3.00 to members...we may just give our yeungling away, both kegs that Ed Gross specified, for $3.00...(stay tuned for a dog that will hunt)...Barley Pop is flowing from opening to close, kegs or CCO... ...further discussions of parking passes, guests, gate guards continues for several minutes; much talking, negligible input, no minutes to regard... ...Steve asks what kind of music the Corbitt Brothers play and Chris Fuller says, "Both kinds, Country and Western"... ...Bob Williams has ordered 100 T shirts this year, some already claimed...and again endorsed the business of Steve Goines, of Goines Sign Company, Blairsville, GA, that donated the memorial road signs again this year... ...GP Mediums, cots, porta potties, all were discussed more than enough along with this year being without an Open House...but the Ranger Families will hopefully be out for a great time at CFM... ...Brian Cunningham gave the names of the Scholarship Recipients, Laura Baugh of Texas, daughter of Herbie and Karen Kehoe of Colorado... ...Planning Bay Signs will honor former RIs Andy Anderson, Vic Rosentreter, Charles Plumley, Herbie Baugh, Robert Wahlberg and George Horton III... Sunny asked about how the scholarships are awarded and Brian explains in some detail plus refers him to the website that explains all about it...currently Keith Antonio, Brian Cunningham and JD Kirby man the committee for selections... ...a letter that was to be read at the meeting was not, as it had not been received by anyone involved in the cemetery prior to the meeting...respecting too the wishes of an original member who called Steve just before the meeting started, asking that the letter be kept silent, nothing was mentioned nor was a recording made of the very short discussion about Shady Grove Cemetery... ...as soon as the name was mentioned a motion was made, seconded and unanimously voted on that the USMRA has nothing to do any longer with this cemetery...no further discussion...30 seconds at most!... ...as details for Family Day come in, a clearer schedule of events about football, basketball, etc will become available... ...respectfully submitted... ...RLTW... ...Lt Fuzz, S1 |
