Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Michael Keohane Message: Now, they change the requirements. I was not able to take the Ranger course because, under the then requirements, I could not do the times swim. I was reading a discussion about female Rangers and one guy posted the current requirements, including this : 3. The final assessment is the Removal of Equipment and 15 Meter Swim. Equipment Removal: starting at the side of the pond the candidate will enter the water and immediately submerge, discard rifle and remove LCE then begin the 15 meter swim. The 15 Meter Swim out of the pond is conducted wearing ACUs and boots. (NO PFD) Any swim stroke is authorized except the back stroke. Drat, no time requirement and only 15 meters, at 73, I can still do it and could have done it wayback when. |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Bob Suchke Message: MORE ON THE RI REUNION: Planning for next April is in very early stages; however, we do know that the official Best Ranger Competition will begin Friday, April 10th, 2015. The only known agenda item at this time is spending the day at Todd Field on Saturday typically followed by dinner at The Four Winds (Ranger Burger) which did indeed close. Another POC for the reunion is Kestner JR Edens who currently resides in Cusseta and works at Ft. Benning. His email address is: jredens@bellsouth.net We would like to reach as many RI's as possible. If you are on facebook, we have created an event page for the reunion. Combined with the facebook account and this email account we try to disseminate information as best we can. We hope to get together for socializing after the DMOB ceremony Thursday evening, Friday night and of course after Todd field Saturday night. Please let us know what other information we can provide you to help us get the word out. Please remember this reunion event is open to all RI's, past and present. Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Mark Miller Message: I met Craig Polzin 30 years ago as a newbie RI. He turned out to be a good friend, a trusting professional and fun loving guy. After serving together he always managed to keep in touch with a visit every couple of years. He always called me 'Mark-Man," and I'm gonna miss him. |
