Message: It is sad news to learn of the passing of one of our own. Ranger Janos Schalavin was a member of the combat patrolling team when I knew him back in the early 1970's. Danforth was the OIC and McDonald was NCOIC of RM1R33N. We ran the platoon combat patrols from Cavender CP up north of the Toccoa River. Schalavin was a SSG at the time if memory serves and was always an inspiring and unique individual. He could cook some of the best goulash I ever ate. Ranger Janos Schalavin was highly respected in the Ranger Community and will be missed by all who knew him. CSM Schalavin, we will see you on the high ground! RLTW!

Message: Not butting in but I know Cookie remembers him but do you guys remember "Nubby" Holland that worked with Doug Cook. He would get to drinking and cut off the tips of his fingers about one a year. When it was still 2nd Ranger Company, I was working in the PAC office and Nubby was going to check the wiring in the crawl space and he took some beer up there with him. He went to sleep and we forgot he was up there and when he woke up, he had to call staff duty to come get him out. What a hoot! Love you guys!
