Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Chuck Windham, Vice President Message: O K Jim, here is your sit-rep on the moving wall. The Moving Wall is all packed up and on it's way to Evans, Ga. just outside Ft. Gordon. I was there for the put up and the opening ceremony, which had a few gliches, and there for the closing ceremony, and the final takedown. What was so amazing was that prior to finishing the opening, we had folks already there to visit, and observe the names as we were putting on the finishing touches. The local VVA chapter picked a beautiful venue at Meeks Park, with the mountains all around. I think the officers were a little stuck on procedure, but that changed as more and more visitors came to the wall. I prepared a tribute to Hotel Company and our Rangers Brothers inscribed on the wall. I placed it below the wall, just under one of ours, saluted, and left. There was a great closing ceremony Monday, and we sent the Wall on it.s way. As it is said, You touch the Wall, and the Wall touches you. RLTW Slashing Talon 34. Out |

Also our friend at WalMart, Manager Tony Norris is retiring tommorrow at 2:00pm. The store is asking for Military guys be there. Earl is coming and I will be there and they asked that you come. Be there if you can make it around 1:45 in the back room. He does not know about it. Tony has always bent over backwards to help the USMRA and will be missed. Steve |
