Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Jim Regan Message: Yet another great gathering of the Mountain Ranger Association, our "Critter Cookout!" Always good to see my ol' Ranger Buddies, and meet some new folks. I'm home, safe and sound. Thanks to my Buddy, Ranger Mike Jaussaud, We had a wonderful weekend; meeting up w/ our ol' Ranger Buddies, hearing all the Tales, and man,there were a thousand Tales a flyin'! Then the time spent recognizing great people w/ the road signs, etc. The Open House went off without a noticeable hiccup, as usual. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this another memorable Open House & CCO! Thinking about next year, already! Have a great Summer and hope to se ya next Spring! Jim RLTW/L&P :) |

Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Joe Mattison Message: To Bill Miller Again: I just re-read your last post and I stand corrected. The monument will be located at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayettville, not JFK Warfare Center. I am familiar with some of the history of the BDQ advisors in Viet Nam. I served with or knew a couple myself over the years, and I always enjoyed hearing their stories. It takes a very special breed of Warrior to volunteer for duty serving with Units who have virtually no supply systems, limited medical evacuation, and virtually no "back up" if anything went bad. It truly was "out on a limb" for these advisors. I think a special monument to them is fitting, and I'm sending out a small contribution today to the address you gave (which caused me to re-read your comment). In memory of Mike Smith, and in thanks to Mike Martin, as well as all of the others who served as BDQ Advisors! A truly remarkable, and to most of us, an unbelievable mission! |
