Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Bob Suchke Message: The North Georgia Airborne Association will meet again this Saturday 16 June 2012 at the Camp Frank D. Merrill NCO Club at 1100 hours. All Airborne qualified personnel are invited to attend and join if interested. The Assn. meets once a month to maintain the Airborne Spirit and promote interest in the Brotherhood of Paratroopers. There are no dues, but donations are welcome. We are conducting a food drive for Veterans in need. So bring any canned goods you would like to contribute. There is usually a program on a related subject with a guest speaker. If you are Airborne qualified then you are invited to attend and join if interested. Meetings usually run about an hour+. We currently have about 50 members on the books and have trips planned to Camp Toccoa at Currahee Mountain in the near future. We already have several Rangers as members and welcome others. Posted: 12/31/1969 Name: Mark Jordan Message: ...mainly an encouragement for every USMRA member to attend tomorrow's Craig Polzin Memorial Service at CFM... ...Schedule--- Noon- Meet at The American Legion in Marietta, 921 Gresham Ave NE, Marietta GA 30060. 12:30pm Sharp! - Depart American legion for Camp Merrill, 1 Camp Merrill Dr, Dahlonega, GA 30533. Georgia State Patrol will accompany to handoff in Lumpkin County to the SD. 2:30pm- Funeral at Camp Merrill at The Airfield. Weather permitting(gym if rain). 3:30- Depart for Gooch Gap. The road to Gooch Gap is a gravel bumpy road, those of us on bikes will ride with others. Trucks, SUVs are preferred for this ride. 4:15- Helicopter pass and final toast as we spread his ashes. 4:45ish- Head back to The Overhang NCO Club for the wake. We plan to celebrate his life into the late hours at The Overhang and around the fire pit. Do not drink and drive! We have a place we can crash.
